The history of the lakefront of Salò began after the earthquake of 1901 that destroyed all the houses that overlooked the lake. The destruction determined the urban revival, which also included the construction of a lakeside promenade inaugurated in 1906 (Lungolago Zanardelli).
The project was implemented in two phases: the first Operative Unit which included via San Carlo / Butturini, 1986-1987 and the second Operative Unit which included the Lungolago Fondo Fossa and Piazza della Vittoria, 1987.
Witnesses of this Age are the Cathedral and the Magnifica Patria Palace.
